Green Tor Reviews

Michael
Inviting property, warm clean and very accommodating for 12 guests of all agesvery spacious and the games room, cinema room and hot tub were an excellent bonus for a large gathering. One or two of the cooking utensils require a bit of TLC but overall an excellent stay, perfect accommodation and will return. Superb location close to many amenities in the resort.
Alison
The property was great venue for a family get together. The children loved the games room and cinema. The proximity to the beach and the park made this an ideal location. There was so much to do in Scarborough we were able to fill the week with activities without having to take the cars out.

We had a really lovely stay at Green Tor over Christmas and would happily recommend it for large family groups. The house itself is spacious, warm and very comfortable, with a great layout that worked really well for us. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the downstairs rooms were particularly well suited to our needs lots of space for socialising together, while still allowing the children to spread out and do their own thing. It never felt cramped, even with a full house. The location is excellent. Its well situated for easy access to North Beach and also within comfortable walking distance of South Beach, which made it ideal for winter walks and getting out and about. A few points of feedback that might help future guests Parking while there is space for up to six cars, its worth noting that cars can block each other in, meaning you may need to move other vehicles to get one out. This would benefit from being made a little clearer in the listing. One of the showers off a firstfloor bedroom struggled to maintain a consistent temperature and did get quite cold at times. We would have found it very helpful to have some basic instruction manuals or guidance for the kitchen appliances particularly the cooker and oven, as it wasnt always easy to get them working as expected. Given the house accommodates up to 14 people, some additional kitchen equipment would be useful for example more cutlery, plates, crockery and cups. When cooking for a large group, this would reduce the need to keep the dishwasher constantly running. Overall, Green Tor is a fantastic house in a great location, and we had a wonderful stay. With a few small tweaks, it would be absolutely spot on for large groups.
The property was delightfully arranged a lovely mix of complimenting period and modern fixtures. The games room, cinema and hottub were a great hit with our party. There were some drawbacks but only minor and could be easily addressed. I slept in a single bed on the first floor and my grandson in a single bed on the second floor the springs were horrendous and neither of us had a decent night's sleep! There was mould in the onsuite a little bleach would do the trick! Little things like the aging, yellow fire decectors, aging bolts on the bathroom doors and the terrible light bulb in my room, could easily be fixed. These things are because I am a perfectionist and did not in any way impact on our holiday! I would utterly recommend this beautiful property and will certainly return.
Robert
Very comfortable accommodation, great games room and film room. Plenty of space to find a quiet corner. Good location and a shortish walk into Scarborough
Andrew
A great place, cant find any faults. So big we actually didnt use 2 of the rooms. Games room was fantastic.
We stayed for two weeks with 6 adults and six children. Lots of room for everybody. The location was just a couple of minutes walk from the north beach which was quieter than the south beach. Several pubs in walking distance. Parking at the property was a bit tight, with a narrow drive, but we did get 4 cars in. The hot tub was popular and in daily use the cinema room too, but at the end of the first week the water needed changing, and was changed. The plumbing was a bit noisy at night. We had two toilet blockages, but the owner sent someone out the same day. The oven takes ages to get warm. We used the delivery service from Morrisons ordered in advance, so we didn't need to go shopping on our arrival. Tesco's deliver as well. All in all we had a good atay.

The house was beautiful, we had a get together with 11 of our friends all in our early to mid twenties, we loved it, the games room was brilliant and handy with the hot tub right outside, the bedrooms were so spacious, we will definitely return

We have just had a short break in Green tor , and the house is immaculate and , comfy , everything we hoped it would be and more . The younger members of our family loved the pool , basket ball , table tennis and the cinema room . We are certainly going back next year
This property is brilliant. Accommodation of the highest standard, warm clean and superbly equipped. Bedding of good quality.. .we were a party of 14 including a small child and there was room enough for all. I particularly liked the small snug room. 2 bottles of Prosecco was very welcome. The only very minor criticism I have is that the kettle was in one side of the very large kitchen and the very modern American style fridge was in the opposite one, quite a trek. Would not hesitate to book this property again and this was the opinion of all .
A fantastic stay. The house was spacious and offered different rooms to relax in. Location perfect.
Stephen
2nd year in a row for us as a family of 7. This house has so many pluses, size, bedrooms, games room, cinema room and jacuzzi. The kitchen needs updating, the oven door is broken and therefore food takes longer to cook as the oven takes an age to warm up. We also had trouble with the fridge which has some issues around getting cold and holding temperature, plus water and ice machine didn't work. We did report this but nothing was done as we expected as what could the owner have done other than buy a new fridge. Fortunately it was cold outside so we didn't lose any food, however things like this need checking regularly and remeding as this is a necessity for keeping food etc fresh. This property comes with a price so things like this need sorting out in our opinion.
Plenty of quality equipment available for cooking Christmas dinner for 14 of us. Lovely and warm house. A shoe rack in the rear lobby would be helpful and the existence of the tumble drier could have been included in the property description. It would have soothed the anxieties of the childrens parents! I do not recognise some of earlier reviewers complaints. The back steps are completely safe in normal conditions, and a bag of rock salt was provided at the bottom of them so even if you arrive in icy conditions you can treat them. The lounge furniture did not smell and there was no picture covered in mould in the downstairs toilet. We had a wonderful time!
Jackie
Our 3rd year running at Green Tor and it didn't disappoint. It's in a perfect location for our early Christmas family get together. The house is so cosy and welcoming. It's just like home from home for us. We had a day at the Alpamare which has reopened this year and the kids loved the Santa train and feeding the squirrels in Peasolm park. All in all another successful year. The Docherty's
Very tired decor. Downstairs toilet has a picture on the wall which is covered in thick mould. Steps to back door became wet in driving rain and four of us slipped on them in the same place. I had the worst slip and ended up in A&E with a torn ligament and chipped bone in my left foot!! Im now having to pay out a fortune to get someone to walk my dog not to mention the pain and suffering! They should put some anti slip surface down on the steps.
Brilliant house, plenty of space and great location. Games room was superb. Hot tub superb. Hope to book again next year.
Patricia
Wonderful house, games room a big bonus. Perfect location. Thank you for the Prosecco, that was a lovely touch. Thanks for swift action on lack of knives, the cleaning manager was friendly and helpful and also provided an extra water jug. The cinema room really needs some ventilation. A few more sevingmixing bowls would be appreciated as well as some food basics such as salt. An excellent holiday for all 14 of us.
We had an excellent stay at Green Tor. No complaints at all.
Michael
Lovely property in a fantastic location for the North beach and Peasholm Park. The games room was well used but could do with a light over the dart board and two decent cues. The theatre room was great with a good supply of films. Ideal for a lovely family holiday.
Everything about Green Tor is great! The position within a five minute walk of all that the North Bay has to offer, the facilities at the house, the comfort and cleanliness are all five star. We were a family party of eleven ranging from 5 to 75 and there was something for everyone even on the rainy days when the games room came into its own! We will certainly be back. Just one suggestion we found we didnt use the dining room for meals and the kitchen was a bit of a squeeze, so knocking through to make one big kitchendiner would be a huge improvement.
Lovely house and a great stay. One minor issue with a blown fuse on the first morning sorted out very quickly. Would definitely stay again.
Great property for large groups. Everything you could want is there for a fun filled time. Great location. Games room well equipped, kids loved the cinema room and hot tub perfect for the adults. Kitchen well equipped for cooking meals, lovely comfy beds. Only issue was bbq probably could do with replacing and maybe a cover to protect it.
Rachel
Fantastic property. There were 7 adults and 6 children in our group and it suited us all. Kitchen very well equipped. Lovely large living room with plenty of seating. Games room and cinema room were great for keeping the kids entertained. Bedrooms all a reasonable size and comfortable. Property generally clean throughout. Only issue that was flagged was that the skylight in the top bathroom was leaking a bit when it rained. Locationwise, it's a 1015 min walk to Tesco Express and a decent pub Tunny Catch. Less than 5 mins to a One Stop. Right over the road from Peasholm Park lovely place to walk around and has a cafepedalos. Less than 10 min walk down to the beach and to the North Bay Railway.
Alison
Family weekend to celebrate 60th birthday. What an amazing house and facilities in a fantastic location. 100 recommend.
Great house for a larger group. Spotlessly clean, with every facility needed. With just a few minutes walk to the north beach, the location is fantastic too. We all enjoyed our holiday and would definitely stay here again.
Stephen
The whole family loved the weekend. We didn't venture far because of the hot tub, games & cinema room which were fab. We are already considering booking for the same time next year.
Jackie
Another great week at Green Tor. This is the second time we've stayed here and it's absolutely fab. The kids talk about it all year round and hopefully the lovely memories of our special family week together will last forever. The house is in a great location for everything and is so warm and cozy. We took the kids on the Santa Train and got tickets for Beauty & The Beast at the Stephen Joseph Theatre which was brilliant. A special mention must go to Bernadette nothing is too much trouble for her. Hopefully see you then same time next year. Thanks Jackie
Barbara
We had a fantastic weekend at this property to celebrate a family members 40th birthday. The house was comfortable, clean very well equipped and perfect for a mixed age family. The gamescinema room and hot tub an added bonus. The owners responded very quickly to a query about lack of heating to the top floor. Would definitely recommend Green Tor and hope to return at some point.
Caroline
Beautiful house which is very well equipped for all.
Stephen
The property is true to the pictures on the website. The house was extremely clean, the kitchen has every type of utensil you could possibly need, plenty of prep space and a table big enough for all guests to sit around and chat. The other areas of the house were equally as comfortable for us 9 adults & 4 children. The icing on the cake is the gamescinema room, adults & children loved it. The hot tub was excellent to chill out in, the addition of a shower room in the Games room was really convenient when using the hot tub better than trailing through the house dripping all over the floors and great big fluffy towels specifically for the hot tub too. We couldnt fault the house or the outside area and would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Elaine
A spacious, comfortable house in a great location. Games room and cinema room proved very popular. Access to cinema room tricky for older and younger members of the group 2 and 88. Some maintenance issues water comes out of overflow when shower in use, chair legs in cinema room wobbly. Kitchen catered for 12 people well. A pizza cutter would have been welcome and there was only 1 pizza tray. These are however minor points and did not detract from what is a fantastic property.
Fabulous week in a wonderful house and setting. Plenty of room for all of us with great facilities. House very clean and the cinema and games room were well used! Hope to return again next summer!
Barbara
Great location and very roomy, bedrooms great. The kitchen however was in need of some updating and care decoration chipped some chairs needed mending and cooking facilities not really adequate for size of property. Similarly with the hot tub and games room, equipment broken, hot tub needed cleaning. We have not found the owners helpful at all, from initial booking to resolving item mistakenly left on the premises.
