Raincliffe Manor Reviews

We had a few days with my daughter and three children in this lovely house. The house was exceptional and in a beautiful setting.it was my idea of perfect holiday and close to many of the attractions the Yorkshire coast has to offer. The owners of the property were warm and welcoming plus the company of a very friendly peacock.
Andrew
Excellent large house, very well equipped and comfortable. Main bedroom and ensuite are huge! Conveniently located for the coast at Scarborough and routes north and south avoiding Scarborough centre. Excellent walks on the doorstep in Raincliffe woods. The back window was like a wildlife channel, with deer, peacocks, pheasants, hares, squirrels and many others passing through the garden. Good food at the Plough in Scalby a hearty 30 minute walk or short drive away. Wifi is a little patchy but no great issue.
Valerie
Fabulous week at Raincliffe Manor. Everything provided, great location. Thank you for the lovely welcome gift.
More than I could hope for. Celebrating my 80th Birthday with my family Raincliffe Manor was the icing on the cake, plus the Peacocks of course. A beautiful secluded spot with all the facilities you could hope for and the Manor so tastefully decorated. A very big thank you to the owners of Raincliffe Manor for their welcome and hospitality.

A fabulous holiday home with excellent hosts Everything you need for a relaxing holiday Would benefit from an air fryer as many people now use these on a daily basis Most comfortable beds we have ever had in a cottage Beautiful gardens and visiting wildlife a joy Thanks
Beautiful property and great location to explore the area
Anthony
Lovely property for a family holiday. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Plenty of space for everyone. Lovely hosts who were respectful of our privacy. Only thing that would have improved our stay would have been a better internet connection which was slow at times, particularly if trying to connect multiple devices. This seems to be an issue in the Scarborough area generally so probably not something the owners have a lot of control over. Would we return? Absolutely!
We have just come back from our holiday in Raincliff manor what a beautiful home ... We have just come back from our holiday in Raincliff manor what a beautiful home loads of space everywhere so clean everything you need in the kitchen the electric charger is a bonus really great idea as we had two electric cars saved charging when out and about and the garden is beautiful what an amazing view to wake up to each morning lots of toys books jigsaws for the little ones and big ones added bonus was seeing the peacocks wondering around deer in the garden to so lovely great location for everywhere we were an family of 7 including a 4 year old and a 2 year old would highly recommend this manor we will definitely be retuning Ann and Pete who live next door who own the property are so lovely helpful all in all we all the an amazing holiday Donna and family
Thanks again for an absolutely fantastic holiday. The house is lovely and beautifully clean. The kids loved feeding the peacocks and the ample space inside and outside to run around!

Raincliffe Manor. This lovely property is carefully managed to ensure high standards are maintained throughout with every consideration geared towards Guest comfort. Although only 15 minutes from Scarborough town centre and seaside attractions, the tranquil grounds have a backdrop reminiscent of the lake district where peace and relaxation is assured with many opportunities to see wildlife on the door step.
Patricia
Lovely holiday home, very spacious in a great rural setting. Very nice welcome food basket on arrival. We really enjoyed the wild and tame animals we saw. The owners were around if we needed them which is helpful. Would recommend a stay here if you want a holiday in a country setting but well within the seaside.
Our hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. Their property is a delight and they make every effort to ensure their guests enjoy it fully.
Beautiful imposing property! Very impressive, lovely holiday home, extremely clean, nice and warm and very well equipped. Excellent location and beautiful surrounding gardens. The two resident peacocks kept us all entertained. Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Owners, Ann and Peter couldn't have been more helpful. Can highly recommend a holiday at Raincliffe Manor.
Steven
Our second stay at Raincliffe Manor. Enjoyed the stay just as much as the first time. Ann and Peter are very accommodating and first class hosts. The Peacock's kept the grand kids amused when we were in the house. Sad to have had to leave again.
Walter
The property was above expectations deserves 11 out of 10 all round score! Very spacious, excellent equipment and facilities. The owner who lived adjacent was very helpful with any queries. The approach and setting of the property was outstanding. The rear gardenlawn area was enormous complete with two resident peacocks and visiting deer family. All in all just a fantastic holiday home.
Absolutely fabulous. Pete and Anne have thought of everything, superb service, and so Clean too. Really comfy beds and the facilities, leave you to want for nothing. Fantastic, location, so quiet and peaceful, WiFi can be a bit hit and miss, but your in the countryside, and personally, nice to get away from the internet lol. Own personal short woods walk, surrounded by countryside, with a short drive into Scarborough, will definitely be returning. There are two very friendly visiting peacocks, beautiful colours. Visitors info book crammed full of Ideas can't praise it enough.
Wonderful place to stay. Very spacious, comfortable, equipped. Peaceful garden full of wildlife. Easy to get into Scarborough or to go further afield. Great for families with either younger or older children. Ann is a great host. Very much appreciated, generous welcome pack. Thank you.
What an amazing place. We have just returned from a holiday with 4 generations of our family. Raincliffe Manor is a perfect place to stay every detail was thought of so spacious and so much equipment in the kitchen to cook for a large family to toys in the garden. Ann and Pete could not do enough for us. Lovely welcome pack on arrival and an added bonus of animal visitors to the garden everyday. Would definitely recommend
Spacious, clean, warm, and extremely well equipped. So much space to accommodate our party of six adults and two little ones. Eight adults plus would still have room to spread out. Ideal for a quiet break with the sea only a short drive away. We had a lovely week and would not hesitate to recommend a stay here. Thank you.
Just back from a fabulous stay at Raincliffe Manor. What an amazing property with lovely land surrounding the house. The house was very spacious and beautifully decorated it had everything you needed even down to dishwasher tablets. There was a lovely welcome pack when we arrived with plenty of teas, coffees and biscuits thank you to Pete and Ann for this Pete and Ann were so welcoming we have truly had a lovely time in their beautiful house thank you x x
This lovely home was spotlessly clean, very spacious and comfortable, with a huge garden and visiting peacocks. We had very good weather and a good time was had by the four of us. Anne the owner kept texting to see if there was anything we wanted, which was reassuring.
Anthony
The only matter of any concern would be the speed and intermittent availability of the WiFibroadband.
Steven
Excellent property in a lovely location. Really enjoyed our stay and were made very welcome by the owner. The only down side was we had to leave but at least we booked for next year before we left.
Alison
Lovely house with great facilities . We were three generations of family members and everything we needed was provided. Daily visits from the peacock thrilled our little grandson
This is a lovely property and we had a very comfortable stay. The house is convenient for the centre of Scarborough but we enjoyed the beautiful gardens and peaceful woods around the house. We all enjoyed our holiday home!
To The Manor Born! If you fancy playing at Lord and Lady of the Manor, then this is the place for you. Relax on the rear terrace and survey your manicured grounds in peace and tranquility. The garden is just amazing. Enjoy the squirrels scampering across the grass, the little moorhen pottering about. Listen to the wonderful birdsong with the occasional bray from Dotty the donkey. Wander through the magical paths of your private woods to discover the sheep. And last but not least, marvel at the colours, splendour and magnificence of the resident peacock. The owners genuinely want you to enjoy your surroundings and be happy. They are generous, funny and very thoughtful. Make yourself at home. They are there if you need them but in no way intrusive. The manor has every gadget you would need it's very clean, comfortable and luxurious. Top quality bedding and furniture. Netflix, table football and lots of games in case it rains. Fantastic location to explore Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, etc. but to be honest, I just wanted to stay in the gardens and woods all day. Major fault with the holiday though was that we had to leave! Ha, ha. Book it. You won't be disappointed.
This property was brilliant and the photographs dont do it justice its much better in the flesh. Ann and Pete lived next door, so any issues and they were there to help, but thankfully never needed them. Their friends nearby caravan park with bar was an added bonus and overall we loved it and well be back.
Alison
What a fantastic week we have had! Raincliffe Manor is such a lovely house to stay in. The owners have thought of everything that you might need during your stay. The garden is such a delight and my grandson loved all the outdoor toys we found in the large container in the garden! The peacocks joined us regularly in the garden fascinating to watch them. We were extremely lucky with the weather for the whole week so we made the most of exploring Scarborough and then relaxing in the garden later in the afternoons. We were a group of 7 adults and a toddler. It was so lovely to have family join us in such a great house!
Andrew
The house was beautiful and was just perfect. The children loved the garden and were overjoyed by the daily appearance of the peacocks and guinea fowl. We had the best holiday ever and will almost certainly return. Location to local tourist attractions was spot on.
Kathleen
We were 6 adults staying in this spotlessly clean beautiful house with breathtaking gardens. It has excellent furnishings, linen, towels and a fully equipped kitchen. We particularly enjoyed dinners in the formal dining room after cocktails on the patio We loved seeing peacocks, deer, hares and red squirrel in the garden.. Very friendly owners Ann and Pete told us to let them know if we needed anything, we never did as the house is perfect. Cannot recommend this property enough.
The property was very well appointed, clean and excellently equipped. The owners were friendly and nonintrusive. The location is excellent.
This is a lovely house. Having a lounge and a loungegames room really suited us as we were 3 generations it is very clean with all the equipment you would want. We had cold and rainy weather, but had a great time. In Summer the garden and local walks through a woodland nature reserve straight from the house would really come into their own. The resident peacocks are a bonus and it is well placed for exploring the North York Moors as well as the attractions of Scarborough.
Penelope
This was a fantastic place to stay our grandchildren loved the woodlands and the massive gardens. We all loved seeing the peacocks, deer, squirrels and rabbits that visited the garden. The house itself was spacious and clean with every facilities needed in the kitchen. The owners were lovely and very friendly and always a phone call away if we ever needed them. We highly recommend this place especially.
Shirley
We had a wonderful time here loved the place. Highly recommend.
Seven of us have just stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. It is nice and secluded, though the owners live in the attached annex and were very quick to fix some of the teething problems we found. The house is beautifully appointed with good quality soft furnishings and tasteful decorations. The grounds are extensive and well manicured, with a huge lawn at the back just perfect for the roaming wildlife deer, squirrels, peacocks.... to make an appearance. The nearby brandnew holiday park has a lovely bar which is just a couple of hundred yards stroll away. They will also be opening a shop soon. The kitchen is particularly well stocked, the mattresses and pillows are very comfortable and the bathrooms have lovely, large fluffy towels. There is plenty of private parking right at the front door, and the drive to Scarborough seafront is less than 10 minutes. We would highly recommend Raincliffe Manor to anyone considering renting it. I realise that this was the first year of letting Raincliffe Manor by the new owners, so I offer constructive criticism regarding some of the minor teething problems we observed we struggled to get the heated towel rail in the master bedroom and the radiators throughout the house to come on when we needed them. After numerous complaints, we were eventually told that they are specifically set to not be on all the time which would explain our frustrations with them. It would be better if the occupants were told this up front, or even better had control of the timers for this. Also, once the aforementioned heated towel rail DID come on, it was impossible to turn it off because the knob became incredibly hot as it was very smooth metal and required numerous turns. It needs a heatresistant coating or a glove nearby and markings so that you can tell when you are turning it. the gas fire in the lounge is lovely, but when it gets hot and you need to turn down the control you have to remove the very hot metal front cover! Again, a glove would help. we reported a massive leak of water in the rear porch during heavy rain the owners strangely did not respond. we reported the kitchen being dark over the sink area due to 2 bulbs being out the owners did not respond though, to be fair, they did about another dead bulb. people have lots of chargers and power cords these days and so need lots of power sockets. We reported this to the owners and suggested that a few extension strips would have helped....but there was no response. Converting the numrous single sockets to doubles would be a more permanent solution. the downstairs toilet is right beside the kitchen and could use an automatic door closer to stop smells travelling in there I did suggest a room spray, which was brought round immediately. the parking area and front stairs were pitch black and thus dangerous when we returned one evening. We mentioned this to the owners and they very quickly got electricians in to fix a nonworking outside light. Sadly, this had a mind of its own and was not always on when needed, and we were not told how to control it. the noshoes policy which greeted us was not unreasonable, given the excellent state of the lightcoloured carpets, but I don't recall receiving advance warning of this to prompt everyone to bring slippers apologies if I missed this in the numerous emails sent by Sykes. the 'welcome basket' in the kitchen was a very decorative touch but, after a long journey, some basics like tea coffee milk bread & butter would have been more appreciated than a watermelon We had to make a trip to the supermarket before we could make a brew. we would have liked to try some of the walks in the massive nearby woods some guidance on that would have been appreciated, as locals surely know the best options. the shower in the master bathroom was quite complex though nice some instructions would have helped. the bath in the family bathroom had just a handheld shower it would be so much more useful with somewhere to hold that on the wall plus a curtain to save the floor getting wet. a brush for scrubbing the dishes in the kitchen sink would be useful and a rectangular bowl would be so much better than the round one.
Kenneth
The home is perfect for large families as there is plenty of space for everyone and extremely large gardens to play football and cricket etc. The house is absolutely spotless and is a credit to the owners who have put in a huge amount of effort to ensure that it is of the highest standard. The owners are very friendly and on hand to assist with any information or help that is required. Our family of 8 had a great time especially the children who took advantage of the large playing area and the walks in the woods especially the summer house. I would have no hesitation of recommending this property to anyone it was a joy to spend time there with our family.
Maureen
Beautiful house and gardens at Raincliffe Manor. The house was very comfortable with plenty of space for 8 people of various ages. Ann was available if we needed anything. The house is situated in a lovely wooded area with peacocks and deer. It is a short drive to Scarborough North Bay and also easy access to other N Yorkshire resorts and attractions.
Elizabeth
The property is even larger than we realised with a games ,TV room ideal for toddlersteenagers needing a bit of space to spread out toys or watch their own TV if they needed to away from the oldies after a day on the beach together. We didnt get round to using the formal dining room as the large kitchendiner was better for family purposes but its nice to know the option is there if needed. The whole house is beautifully furnished and equipped. Peacocks wandered around the enormous garden which was bordered by a variety of lushtrees. Ann, the owner was extremely kind and thoughtful and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this property.
